Blenderbox has been proud to put our design, development and user experience skills to work on CourtConnect, a joint effort between Ogilvy and Blenderbox for IBM and the United States Tennis Association. If you like reading tweets/facebook updates about the US Open while you're watching the matches live, you'll love CourtConnect!
Using a Django-based admin tool, CourtConnect pairs real-time scores, stats and analytics with tweets, facebook updates and live getty images based on their relevance during US Open matches. Updates are mostly from fans around the world, but also include special color-coded updates from the USTA, editorial sources, celebrities and even the players themselves. The app automatically updates in one stream, making it a dynamic compliment for watching the US Open.
CourtConnect uses several 3rd party technologies including a social media aggregator called TweetRiver by Mass Relevance and scalable, realtime functionality via pusher.com. The front-end uses a jQuery plugin called Masonry, and surfaces user-based images from tweets and updates using Embedly.
CourtConnect will be live until September 11, 2011, so be sure to check it out while you are watching the US Open.
