The Foundation for Child Development (FCD) is a national, private philanthropy dedicated to the principle that all families should have the social and material resources to raise their children to be healthy, educated and productive members of their communities.
FCD seeks to understand children, particularly the disadvantaged, and to promote their well-being. They believe that families, schools, nonprofit organizations, businesses and government at all levels share complementary responsibilities in the critical task of raising new generations.
We worked with FCD to redesign their primary public-facing website.
The new site embraces current web best practices for search engine optimization, multimedia content, and search in order to streamline FCD’s message. It also showcase its growing repository of research focused on
improving PreK-3rd Grade Early Learning programs that will help “break the cycle of hardship” in the early years setting our youth up for success.
The new site engages each of six key audiences: policymakers, principals, teachers, researchers, grant-makers and parents. The goal was to simplify the mission and message, demystify the techniques and strategies, and focus on putting the research into an accessible format that is presented in layman’s terms in order to reach the widest audience and to maximize impact.
Content on the new site will stay fresh and relevant through an open-source Drupal content management solution which enables the FCD team to add content, rich media, photos and illustrations to the new site as needed.
