Educating visitors outside the museum walls.
The Pentagon Memorial Fund was ready to re-focus their official public website from a pre-construction fund-raising tool, to an ongoing informational, educational and resource tool in support of the recently completed Memorial.
The organization had reached a natural inflection point, where the needs of the website would now be better served by an easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain Content Management System -driven website that can be managed internally.
The website is the online gateway to visitors of the Pentagon Memorial and embraces modern web best practices for design, accessibility, and usability including integration of educational resources and social-networking capabilities.
The primary audience will be the general public as well as the academic community (teachers, administrators, parents and students). Potential and existing donors are still a primary audience and the new website accommodates donation fulfillment.
The site allows online visitors to have a virtual experience of the Memorial through the interactive map, galleries and videos. It also features an interactive timeline to educate visitors about the events of September 11th, 2001.
Our vision for the re-designed Pentagon Memorial site was to truly capture the solemn experience of the place, the memorial, and its history in one seamless, virtual environment.
The site honors the families of 9/11 and the citizens who seek to educate and memorialize the event that transpired in Arlington, Virginia on September 11th, 2001.
