A learner-centered approach to incorporating the arts in education.
The Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian houses one of the world's great cultural resources, with vast collections representing Native American culture throughout history. Within the Infinity of Nations exhibit, the museum highlights the blurred boundaries between Native cultures and the traditions, objects and artwork that binds them.
To augment the physical collection, Blenderbox worked with the NMAI team to create a companion website and DVD to educate school-aged children about the exhibit. Using interactive maps, pop-out word definitions, eye-catching animations, and a badge-based game system, we built an online learning environment as fun as it is educational.
From the Inuits of Alaska to the Mapuche of Patagonia, each culture's unique handiwork is placed within a rich history and context for visitors young and old to explore.
