The Garment District Alliance has been supporting quality of life and economic development in Manhattan’s vibrant Garment District since 1993. Wanting to improve the caliber of its website design, the Alliance partnered with Blenderbox.

The Goal

The redesigned site needed to reflect their new branding, featuring the Midtown street grid and the famous Broadway slant. They also had integration points with their Filemaker database of local businesses, and needed to showcase their vibrant Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Our Solution

We used Django CMS’s newest administrative tools for in-page content editing and flexible promo modules for easy cross-promotion. We also had a couple coffees in the neighborhood, and even came up with a new idea: self-guided walking tours. All of this, while making the site responsive and beautiful across all device sizes.

A Signature Touch

The homepage design turns the famous Midtown street grid into a functional design element.

Mapped Out

Customized Google maps embedded in the site focus on wayfinding, one of their users’ top priorities.

Fresh Content

Self-guided tours build on the success of their popular organized tours. The site owners create these in the CMS in a matter of minutes.

Back End

Under the hood, we ingest an XML feed of places in their Filemaker database every night, keeping all their data in sync.
