A consortium of education leaders—including the NYC Dept. of Education, the Mayor’s Office, the City University of New York, and Goddard Riverside—banded together to address a gap in college preparedness and success.

The Goal

New York is full of advising programs free to local students. Graduate NYC! and their partners came to us for a site that quickly connects students to these programs, multimedia, and the advice they need when making college decisions.

Our Solution

Building on their intensive audience research, we created the branding, design, and site structure. With a tight summer deadline, we counted on guerrilla usability testing to deliver a site that served students, advisers, teachers, and parents alike.

  • – Visual Design

A/B Design

We designed two homepages—one narrative and one data-driven—and tested them with users from each audience. We went with the students’ overwhelming choice: practical, empowering data.

Ask an Adviser

Students and parents can ask questions anonymously and get answers from real advisers at Goddard Riverside.

“Our mission was to engage students ‘IRL.’ The Ask an Adviser messenger was born to bring the website that vital connection.”

Faceted Search

Users can filter by borough, subject, language, and more. Careful iconography emphasizes helpful, popular, and curated content.

Save and Share

It’s easy to share resources, letting advisers compile and send customized lists to their students.
